Thankfully, this sextet breaks away from the norm with synth-heavy rhythms and sweeping vocals. Stylistically, it's tempting to compare Royce to the Gorillaz—but the group's latest album, Subtleties of the Game (featuring rapper Qwel), helped it to establish a sound all its own.
